The 6 Steps of Notarization

You MUST appear IN PERSON before the notary public.

2. Present yourself and your documents to the Notary Public

Be sure to bring your identification documents, and the document(s) you wish to be notarized. These documents MUST be COMPLETE. Neither blank or missing pages nor blank spaces are allowed.  It is HIGHLY PREFERABLE that documents are presented UNSIGNED. Documents and are REQUIRED to be UNSIGNED if a JURAT is to be executed.

3. Request the notarial act you wish to be performed 

The notary public cannot advise you which notarial service is right for you. The notary can-- and will at your request-- describe to you what each notarial service is. Then you must make a decision.

4. Provide the information for the notarial journal

You will be asked to provide all the information necessary for the thorough completion of the notarial journal and receipt. You will be asked to provide a signature thumbprint as well.

5. Provide payment

This is according to the schedule of fees. You will receive a receipt.  

6. The notarial act is performed

Congratulations!
